Walking Meditation – A Video Guide

Thankfully, meditation has moved into the mainstream, and you’re no longer considered a weirdo if it’s part of your daily routine (at least I hope not!).  The benefits of meditation are undeniable and span the full spectrum of wellness from mental,  to emotional, to physical, to spiritual.  A lot of people are curious about it or have a desire to do it, yet hit roadblocks of frustration that prevent truly connecting to the practice.  Resistance rises, and meditation remains mysterious and “unattainable.”

If this is you, fear not!  Like yoga, meditation is a practice (well technically, meditation is yoga, and vice versa).  I’ve been practicing meditation regularly for about four years now, but my practice wasn’t truly solidified until I spent 10 days in silence at a Buddhist monastery in Thailand.  If that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, don’t worry about it.  Just watch the video below for some simple tips on a walking meditation technique I learned while on my journey abroad.  Enjoy!  And if you like it, share this video with your friends. Chances are, they’re curious about meditation too and this might be just what they need to kick start their practice.

In the comments below, please let me know your thoughts, feelings, questions, apprehensions regarding meditation.  Is it part of your daily practice?  Have you tried walking meditation?

Thanks again Jonathan for your great questions, and I welcome you to email me yours (sasha@beopenyoga.com) or write them in the comments below.

Be well!

  1. Thanks for the tips, Sasha, and yes, those are great questions. Meditation is one of my greatest passions in life and I encourage anyone who is even a tiny bit interested in it to follow that curiosity… it leads straight to the heart. I’d like to put in a plug for the weekly meditation group that we hold at Mind In Body on Sunday evenings. We answer questions like these and give people instructions on how to find a comfortable sitting posture. You can read more about it here: http://www.meetup.com/Zen-Meditation-Mindfulness/
