Feel extra fabulous on your vacation

Stay healthy, feel beautiful, and live luxuriously while away from home.

After spending 10 glorious days on the beautiful island of St. Maarten/Martin, taking daily dips in the gorgeous Caribbean Sea, followed by 4 days in South Beach hanging poolside at the super stylish Raleigh Hotel, I’ve compiled 3 important tips for maintaining your natural goddess radiance so you can feel extra fabulous on your vacation.
One might assume being on vacation guarantees radiance, but the sun, the sand, the chlorine, and being away from your wellness routines can take their toll. Here’s how you can stay healthy, feel beautiful, and live luxuriously while away, completely naturally of course.

Goddess Tip #1) Use Coconut oil (I highly recommend Mountain Rose Herbs organic coconut oil)

Coconut oil is your hair and skin super hero while soaking up the sun and the sea, which can really dry you out.

  • Hair
Work a good amount of coconut oil into your hair prior to getting in the water, and it works to protect it from getting too dried out. After your shower and hair has been towel dried, work another dollop of coconut oil into your locks as a leave-in conditioner which also fights frizz in humid environments. When you let your hair dry naturally, enjoy lovely beachy waves without the added damage of heat styling.

  • Skin
For your skin, use coconut oil as your facial cleanser. Apply it to dry skin like cold cream, then use a warm, damp wash cloth to both wipe it off and exfoliate at that same time. Your skin will feel and look radiant even after long hours in the sun, wind, and sea. Best of all, you can go easy on your moisturizer, or leave it out all together, and still have a gorgeous dewy glow.

Goddess Tip #2) Travel with a few key essential oils.

  • Protective Blend
Apply this to the soles of your feet the night before and morning of travel. It helps boost your immune system before the drain and germ exposure of airports and airplanes, ensuring you’re in full form for maximum fun and relaxation.
  • Lemongrass
Lemongrass is a phenomenal natural bug repellant, which also happens to smell delightful and lift your spirits. Apply to your ankles and pulse points (back of the knees, elbow crease, and neck) to keep the mosquitos away without drenching your skin with the harsh chemicals of standard repellants.
  • Lavender
Should you happen to get a few bug bites or any skin irritations from the sun, the sea, or the heat, lavender is a beautiful skin soother. It’s very gentle so can be applied directly to your skin. Also, if you’re experiencing jet lag or have trouble sleeping in beds that aren’t your own, lavender is a wonderful natural sleep aid. Place a couple drops on the soles of your feet, back of your neck, and heart center to mellow out and drift off into dreamland.

Goddess Tip #3) Ask for a better room.

Twice in the past few months I’ve been given hotel rooms that were fine, but not great with less than spectacular views. Instead of just being ok with it, I very politely ask if something better is available, and both times I was blessed with a far better room with spectacular view to boot (see below). The best advice my mom has ever given me is, “The answer is no until you ask.” The worst that can happen, they say no. But more likely than not you’ll find yourself in more luxurious accommodations and therefore much happier during your stay.
