Are you living fully exactly where you are in this moment? Or are you constantly fixated on what’s coming next?
Monday night I got to do one of my favorite things…attend Marianne Williamson’s live talk at The Saban Theater in Los Angeles. With one of my favorite people no less! My brilliant cousin Alex Beadon.
There are no shortage of golden nuggets that I scribble down when I hear Marianne speak, but what struck me deeply that evening was the guidance to inhabit fully exactly where you are. There are so many ways to apply this to your life. It’s important to look ahead at what you want, where you want to be, what you’re moving toward, yet the only way to experience the depth of existence and true movement in your life is to be fully exactly where you are right now.
This resonated deeply with me because I often think about where I want to live. Right now I have a beautiful home surrounded by green. It’s a wonderful space to do my work, to host essential oil classes and gatherings, to share meals with my love, and it’s located close to some of my favorite people and places. Yet I complain because it’s right off of a busy street and very difficult to walk anywhere. So I think about where I might rather be, and fixate on getting there.
What does that do? It pulls my appreciation and gratitude out of my current experience. It pulls me out of the present. I am blessed to live where I do, in this lovely space, and I know it won’t be forever so I might as well enjoy it FULLY while I can.
Can you relate to this idea? Think about your relationships, your home, your job, your wardrobe. Are you spending more time wishing things to be different, or experiencing fully exactly where you are right now?
I don’t want to miss out on what is already present and wonderful in my life. And I look forward to all the ways it will transform and shift over time, so I can be present in those spaces too.
