5 Days in Vancouver: Work Trip Food Adventures & Granville Island Exploration

Image of banana leaf Malaysian food

Back in March, I went to Vancouver, Canada for a 5-day work trip. It’s been over 30 years since I was last there as a kid living on Vancouver Island, and honestly, I barely remember it from back then. I’m so happy I got to go back and experience it as an adult!

Work kept us busy most days, but the food scene was a highlight. Our hotel on Davie Street put us right in the middle of amazing options – from scrumptious Australian bakery delights for breakfast to mouthwatering Malaysian fried chicken for dinner. I just could not get enough of the incredible food!!

On my last day, I got to explore Granville Island with my dear friend Kristi. I highly recommend Opus art store if you’re an artist. We also spent way too much time in a stationary store, perused a bookshop, and planted ourselves at a cafe for hours of chatting.

Check out the highlights and beautiful ocean views in this mini-vlog below.

My top Vancouver recommendations:

Banana Leaf – Authentic Malaysian Cuisine – Everything is good. Featured image is from Banana Leaf.

Cobs Bread – Try a cheese buffin. You’re welcome.

The Acorn Restaurant – Get the tasting menu.

Vancouver Seawall – Beautiful seaside walks.

Museum of Anthropology – Large collective of First Nations art.

Granville Island – Excellent food market and unique shops.
