Do you wish you had more time to create?

Between work, preparing for work, and recovering from work, who has time to create? Add on top of that feeding yourself and your loved ones, exercise, family obligations, walking your dog…forget about it.

I suffer from this affliction often, and my way of overcoming it is Creators Club. It’s a group of artists I assembled at work to create an online art show a couple times a year. We give ourselves 12-weeks, from inception to art opening, and it forces us to devote time to our creative process.

The second cohort just launched our online exhibit, and the projects were as varied and inspired as the first cohort. Everyone in the group shared that having this deadline to present was exactly the motivation needed to carve out space for these things that light us up, yet often get back-burnered. Someone even started drawing for the first time, and now loves it and practices regularly for joy and stress relief.

Sound familiar? I’m considering forming a Creators Club for you. We would follow the same 12-week format, leading to an online exhibit and art opening party. All modalities and skill levels would be welcome.

Do you want to work on your poetry? Dust off your camera? Pick up your paint brushes? Practice drawing? Bring your knitting needles back to life?

If that sounds fun to you, let me know you’re interested! Either reply to this email (if you’re reading this in an email), or send me a message through the contact form below (if you’re reading this on my blog) and let me know. This doesn’t obligate you to anything. It just lets me know if people are keen and it’s worth kicking off in the new year.

FAQs

Do I have to be an artist to do this?

No, you just need to have a creative project idea that you want to share with the world, or something you’re curious to try.

When will this start?

TBD but probably mid Q1, 2025.

What’s the time obligation?

We’ll have a kick-off call and an art opening celebration call. In between those, we’ll have a bi-weekly open call for sharing our creative journey and to help each other get unstuck. Beyond that, it’s totally up to you how much time you want to set aside to creating (I’ll help you create a plan).

Will there be a fee?

Yes, there will be a small fee (exact amount tbd) to help you have some skin in the game and follow through on your creative commitment.
