How to show up, even when you really don’t want to

Written by:

The morning I had planned to film this video, I woke up after very little sleep, feeling exhausted and emotionally drained. The last thing I wanted to do was put myself in front of a camera.

Yet, I had made a commitment to do so, and was determined to get it done. Here’s how I rustled up the energy to show up and see it through.

The Steps

These steps will come in handy next time you need to show up for a commitment, and are having a hard time finding the energy.

Step 1: Know your commitments

Step 2: Take care of yourself

Step 3: Let go of anything that isn’t necessary that day

Step 4: Just do it!

Let me know if this was helpful for you, and what strategies you use to confront the day when feeling less than your best.

I really appreciated all of your four points about showing up. Today I put everything aside to do with my upcoming trip and made a commitment to meeting up with a dear friend.

Wonderful! Most of the time when we stick with it and follow-through, not only is it less stressful than we imagine, it’s rewarding and fun! Enjoy xoxo
